lyrics
Sometimes when I’m on my way to work
walking mindlessly down the street
I look into the road, and I think about how tired I am
I think about my inability to say no
and my refusal to turn down offers of plans
I think about how I could really use a break
Nothing too serious, maybe a tibia, or a fibula
Something to put me on the sidelines for a couple of months
to slow down, to regroup
I don’t really want to hurt myself
and I don’t want to die
I don’t want to worry my friends and my family
I just want to back away quietly into the hedge, unnoticed.
But what would that really achieve?
What would be the outcome of that?
Sure, I can take a couple of months off,
it’ll still all just be there when I get back.
I’ll have worried my friends and my family
become a burden on them
I’ll start to feel bored and I’ll start to feel lazy
I know what I need
I just need a break
